Does Banning Positive Images of Police Make Sense?
I don’t usually watch O’Reilly, but I happened to hear the story of High-Five Fridays in Northampton, Massachusetts elementary schools being canceled. The concern was raised that children of color or immigrants might take offense because they experience cops in only a negative, fearsome way. My questions are why would it be so wrong to show police in a positive way? Do we stop teaching that police officers are community workers that try to protect us from harm because it is contradictory to the experience of a group of people? Talk about perpetuating fear!
